What is a Blog?
"Blog" is short for "Web Log". The term was inspired by Star Trek's infamous "Captain's Log". Which brought us to seeing the term "log" to mean, somewhat of a formal diary of sorts. And web log because, well, it's on the web. We still see the remnants of this understanding of what an internet log is in how we still use the term "vlog" - meaning video log. Lots of people make YouTube videos, but if they are specifically making a video diary then they call it a vlog.
But nowadays stuff like... Tumblr is called a blogging website? And lots of 'blogs' online are actually just articles and not at all diary-like.
And the funny thing is, that back in the 00s and 10s, a vlog didn't even refer to a video diary, necessarily. It was a more open term meaning a video featuring somebody as opposed to an animation or an act or a music video etc.
Anyway, jokes on me because I don't intend to use this page to specifically do any private blogging. I intend to spread lies and make up stuff and just type out what is in my head. Because nobody is really going to read it and it doesn't matter anyway. It's all cool.
I like this freedom.

I dunno, I think I'll also talk about some nostaglia for the old days on the internet. I think there might be some value to that. Not that I am trying to care much about value, but simply that is a thought that crossed my mind.
Sometimes I look at the Jade Cocoon website on Way Back Machine and on there, because like... having a web page was sort of a novelty back then. There's a part of it that links to other people's websites where they have information about the game. It's got this sweet community vibe to it. Like, tagging friends in stuff nowadays. Except that person doesn't get a notification for it.
There's this old website that I just really loved looking at (and translating line by line in google translate). It's just charming, I feel. This person has made a blog and pretended their website is like a castle or something and it's just really cool. It really just grabs that nostaglic feel.
And I dunno, I felt a kinship as I had a little shrine on my own website for Jade Cocoon. I wonder who this person is? I presume they're still alive. I'll look into it some day maybe :3

Total side note but relevant as you probably would like to know... I will, for like, future sake, date these 'blog posts' but I'm not going to list them in date order or anything as I see no value in that. Also, I might be lying on these pages. Like who cares.
Keep at it, legends.
Keep at it, legends.
